Home Decorators Crush

I've had a pretty big crush on Home Decorator's Collection (HDC) for a while now. I originally stumbled upon HDC through other design blogs and at once fell in love with the stylish, affordable furniture and decor. So naturally, when I found out they had brick and mortar stores in select states across the U.S., I knew I had to get to one! (And of course, when Jenny of Little Green Notebook visited the New Jersey location and said it was great, and I wanted to go even MORE.)

So, when I spent a little time in Atlanta, GA with my cousin D at the tail end of my vacation, pretty much my first thought was, "when and how fast can I get to HDC?" (I'm sure the first thing you all of think of when someone says "fun things to do in Atlanta" is "HOME DECORATORS!!!!" right!? Just me?) After making my specific request known weeks in advance of my visit, D graciously escorted me to the Alpharetta location. (And she even agreed to take a picture of me out front of this 'tourist attraction'!)

You can't see my ginormous "design dork" smile, but I was like a kid on Christmas!

This clock is a beaut! A agree with Jenny - it's a little Kate Spade reminiscent, no?

Gorgeous fabrics for Home Decorators' custom upholstery items. I was looking at the headboard samples, specifically. Fabric samples are available from HDC upon request!

Love this fabric option!

I was specifically interested in the headboards, as I've been eying this one for a while. I was impressed with the quality in person. I will probably go with "natural twill" when I do order it for more versatility over time.

I was also very interested in the quality of HDC's sofas, which are so affordable that I thought they were too good to be true. They appeared very well made, and again offer great upholstery options. The sofas that I sat on were all pretty comfortable too. They aren't super large sofas, so in my mind they aren't perfect for lounging or watching TV, but they look awesome. The Rockford Sofa, pictured here, has such a high-end look. The Gordon Tufted Sofa is also beautiful in person (doesn't look cheapo like I thought it might - love the brown!).

I'm such a sucker for blues and greens. I swooned over the new Martha Stewart craft collection and these gorgeous accessories.

One thing I didn't take pics of, but which really impressed me in person, were the dining tables, chairs and lighting options. Again, they were all stylish, beautiful and of great quality.

To summarize, my Home Decorators visit was a HUGE win. It's so awesome to see, feel and sit on all the stuff you love looking at online. My cousin had never heard of HDC or been there before and she loved it too. If you are lucky enough to be near a HDC location, be sure to check it out. Otherwise, you can browse their amazing selection online!

(P.S. If you can't make it to a store, but are considering an HDC purchase, the reviews for many products are detailed and helpful.)

  1. So great to know Julie! Thanks for sharing this. I've been admiring those sofas (and those prices!!) skeptically from afar for quite sometime. Now I might be able to bite the bullet for some clients.

And I' so glad to hear I'm not the only one with weird design dork tendencies. We ride the same train, my friend!
